Obituary of Eugene Vollick

VOLLICK, GENE – Peacefully, after a long struggle with cancer, Gene, of Port Robinson in his 82nd year passed away surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at St. Joseph's Hospital Hamilton. Gene will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, Dorothy "Kitt"; his children, who he greatly loved, Gene, Dean (Andrew Saxe) and Lisa Tanner (Jordy Scott); grandchildren Michael Mercer and Raven Tanner; and siblings Barb Koski (the late Eino) and Ron. Gene will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members. Predeceased by his son Shane, his sister Betty Andrews and his parents Harry and Evelina. Gene had a wide variety of interests which included home renovations, gardening, (he enjoyed learning the names of all the plants); spending time fishing at his cottage on Manitoulin Island, making maple syrup, playing his guitar and singing. Gene was a dedicated member of the Volunteer Firefighters at Station 3 Port Robinson and was Fire Chief from 1970 to 1974 and from 1987- 1990. He was also a pilot and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Gene would lend a hand to anyone who needed it and was always looking out for his co-workers and community. Friends will be received on Monday, July 2, 2018 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home, 2 Regent Street, Thorold.
